Does an agency like the FDA have a mind of its own, or is it controlled by the medical industry and special interests? To answer, consider the story of aspartame and how Donald Rumsfeld manipulated FDA to put a carcinogenic neurotoxin on the market, one for which FDA had repeatedly denied approval since it causes brain tumors.Rumsfeld was CEO of the G. D. Searle Co., producer of aspartame/NutraSweet/Equal. FDA would not approve Searle’s chemical sweetener plainly because it is undeniably toxic, releases methyl alcohol (as in rotgut booze) then converts into formaldehyde, formic acid and diketopiperazine. Deadly, deadly, deadly!
So what to do? Dangerous Donald had political clout as part of newly elected Ronald Reagan’s transition team. So the night of Reagan’s inauguration the FDA Commissioner who had stood in the way of aspartame approval was fired. A new stooge, Arthur Hayes, was appointed to run the Food and Drug Administration, which was then effectively decapitated. The now ousted Commissioner Dr. Jere Goyan was about to sign revocation of aspartame into law, but he received a call from the Reagan team at 3:00 AM demanding his resignation. Next Reagan signed an executive order that made FDA powerless to act on aspartame until Hayes got to Washington to take over. Hayes over-ruled FDA’s scientific Board of Inquiry, which refused to approve aspartame because of brain tumors and general toxicity.

Aspartame is now sold as NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, E951, Canderel and Benevia, and is in such popular products as Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Diet Snapple and Sugar Free Kool-Aid. Hundreds of millions consume it worldwide. It is in prescription and over-the-counter drugs and, believe it or not, Aspartame is added to products sold to treat the problems it causes. It is in pediatric drugs and vitamins with consequent devastations to our children and youth.

It should be noted Splenda/sucralose is a chlorocarbon poison that is very dangerous for diabetics.

"At every point in the fertility process aspartame destroys, beginning with the gleam in Mom and Pop's eyes: it ruins female sexual response and induces male sexual dysfunction," wrote Dr. James Bowen, a neurologist and chemist. "Beyond this, aspartame disrupts fetal development by aborting it or inducing defects. And if a live child is born aspartame may have heinously damaged the DNA of the baby, cursing future generations."

Researchers tracked the habits and health of about 2500 adults in Manhattan over a nearly 10 year period, land found that those who drank diet sodas daily had about a 48% higher risk of stroke or heart attack than subjects who drank no soft drinks at all. They were also about 67% more likely than non drinkers to develop diabetes.
